We created this new mural for the Reflections program. The goal is to make this event appealing for the kids, and try to get them to participate in extra curriculum activities. So far, 15 students turned in their application in just 1 day!

Urgent action is needed. The new Principal at Newhall Elementary School is having all of the indoor Murals painted over!
These wonderful murals that have decorated the walls and warmed the hearts and imagination of children and their parents will be eliminated if no action is taken! What do we do?

    Hi Lucy,
I know that the murals are a big part of Newhall Elementary School’s history. It wasn’t just the Principal’s decision to paint over them, but a consensus between the administration, teachers, parents and even students who all thought that it was time for Newhall Elementary to move forward.
The murals have been deteriorating over the years and even though they were freshened up a few years ago, most of them were really dirty and old. Also, the actual children at school did not relate to the characters on the walls anymore, being from a new generation.
Newhall Elementary school is the oldest school in our Valley and has a very precious history but it needs to offer the same standards as any other school. A clean, modern school that puts the work and achievement of its students forward.
Some of the murals have already been replaced with bulletin boards displaying each grade level’s work. Over the next year, the rest of the murals will be painted over and replaced with more bulletin boards to share information about students’ clubs, achievements and more…
A photographer has taken pictures of the murals and there will be a board dedicated to the history of Newhall and how those wonderful paintings enchanted students, teachers, parents and visitors for years.
It’s just time to move on and let the school walls belong to the children who make Newhall School’s history!
Please come and visit the school, share your journey and achievements as there will be a board dedicated to alumni ;)
    Best,
    G.
